HollyOaks has a rich history as the home of prominent local families and celebrated names such as the Parma family who donated Parma Park to Santa Barbara as well as Robert Zemeckis, producer of movies Forest Gump and Back to the Future. Zemeckis renovated the house in the late 1990’s with the lovely details you see in the home today from unique fireplace surrounds to dramatic windows that frame the sylvan, tree-lined, mountain vistas.
With its elegant 5 bedroom main house, two lovely guest cottages and pool cabana - HollyOaks has become an ideal gathering place for people from all walks of life. The home has welcomed visiting artists such as Laura Michelle Kelly (Mary Poppins and Finding Neverland on Broadway). Steven Schwartz composer of Wicked the Musical and his producer son Scott Schwartz stayed for over a month in the two guest houses while they mounted the opera Seance on a Wet Afternoon at the Granada Theater. Other houseguests include Barry Bostwick of Rocky Horror Picture Show, New York Metropolitan mezzo-soprano Frederica Von Stade, Jake Heggie composer of operas “Dead Man Walking” and “Moby Dick,” pianist Barry Douglas winner of the celebrated Tchaikovsky Award, oboist Nick Daniel winner of the Queen’s Medal of Music, and Brandi Burkhardt (Hart of Dixie).
Dinners at HollyOaks honored luminaries Brian Greene (String Theory), John Cleese comedian, and Malcom Gladwell author of books Blink, Tipping Point, Outliers, and What the Dog Saw. Jonathan Pryce (Game of Thrones and Pirates of the Caribbean) who stayed in the "R & R Roost" (the upper guest house), commented, “Thank you so much for your kind hospitality. It has been a real treat staying here…especially the bed.”
